This is a very important year for the people at Jim Henson Studios, as they are celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Farscape, as we previously covered in our prior post, here.
To help give back to the fans, and to celebrate the anniversary Jim Henson Studios, in association with Rio Vista Universal took over The Fluxx Nightclub in downtown San Diego. With their combined skill and knowledge of the fan base, they created a unique experience that fans would not forget.
Attendees were given the chance to not only hang out with cast members Ben Browder (John Crichton) and Gigi Edgley (Chiana), but also creator Rockne S. O’Bannon and Executive Producer/Director Brian Henson.
This aspect was what made the party extra special. Unlike the traditional meet and greet and autograph signings, fans got to sit down and talk with everyone with ample time given so fans weren’t meant to feel rushed or herded along. During this time everyone was also able to relax and mingle with various guests and other fans.
Following the signing and meet and greet session, the party opened up to a more traditional feel where The Flux Capacitors performed a few songs allowing those that wished, to dance and sing along. Then as
an added bonus to wrap up the party; Gigi Edgley performed a selections of songs she chose with the band.
The whole night was a nice way for fans to meet cast and creators in a different and more intimate setting that made everything more special. I look forward to similar events and more celebrating Farscape’s 20th Anniversary.
