Nerd Out: January 2021 New Year Same Covid

So, COVID-19 is still here, we hoped it would go away before the year is out, but it is still here and we are all just trying to live our lives through it. To try to help people keep positive, and find safe ways to get out, we are continuing our Nerd Out feature. If you have to get out, get out safely!

Before we go into the details of the events, we want to remind people that we are still within the thralls of a pandemic, and recommend people check out our article on ”If You Should Go Out” Here. In keeping with our promise within that article though, each event we are talking about will have an Is It Safe section discussing steps taken by the organization to keep the attendees safe. Please consider that though before making your ticket purchases.

So here is once again the lists of events headed to Los Angeles available this month. I hope you guys like the list, and let us know if you took advantage of these events, or if you want us to shout out about events in the following months!

    Are you a fan of lights and music? Do you regularly attend EDC? Then Electric Mile is the event for you, as they bring a drive-thru experience to the Santa Anita Race Track!

    With over 500,000 lights, 7 stages, and 500 art displays, all set to music pumped into your car through your FM radio, this event is a lot! Plus it’s a 1-hour experience. Get that money worth for your family!

    Is It Safe?
    The event is distanced, as long as the people inside the vehicle are your family. Attendees will also only be allowed to leave their vehicles at the beginning of the experience, to use the restroom.

    Jurassic Quest Available in Pasadena from January 15th through January 31st.

    Jurassic Quest has been delighting children with dinosaur experiences, and knowledge for quite some time and they aren’t about to stop because of a pandemic! The experience has changed quite a bit to be safe, which now includes a Drive-thru experience!

    Explore over 70 dinosaurs built not only to size but in detail as well! The experience includes an audio tour and interactive baby dinosaurs! Why wouldn’t you share this with your children?!

    Is It Safe?
    The event is distanced, as long as the people inside the vehicle are your family.

    Tickets for this event is a flat $49 per vehicle, but can have add-ons added to your experience. Purchase your tickets Here.

    Los Angeles Rooftop Cinema Club Running in Santa Monica all month long.

    Operating at the Santa Monica Airport, this drive-in experience showcases many different movies throughout the month, from family friendly titles like The Little Mermaid, all the way to adult movies like Fight Club, depending on the day. Tickets sell out, so if you are looking for a fun and safe family movie night, this is a solid option for you!

    The movies are not new movies, but some are newer than others, pick the movie night you want before they sell out!

    Is It Safe?
    The event is distanced, as long as the people inside the vehicle are your family. Other cars will be 10 feet away, and tickets and concession purchases are made online. All event staff wears masks, and change gloves routinely. Guests are allowed to leave their vehicle to go to the restroom, but must wear a mask at all times or will be ejected.

    Tickets for this event are sold in two blocks, the first is two people for $32, or if you have three or more $45. Children under 8 do not count for ticket requirements, so load the car up with the little ones! Get tickets for these movies Here!

    Six Flags: Holiday In The Park Available in Santa Clarita all month long in January.

    Originally planned to only be through the holidays, this event has been extended through the weekends in January due to its success and the limit of options due to the pandemic.

    While there are some dark spots, the pricing for the event, plus the beauty of the lights is well worth the cost. Also, the performances and costumed characters really add to the experience.

    Is It Safe?
    Six Flags employees will be wearing masks and will be temperature-checked and health-screened each day. The event is distanced, as long as the people inside the vehicle are your family, you should be safe. They have also forbidden convertibles, and motorcycles in an effort to increase safety. If attendees lower their windows, then masks will be required. Attendees will not be allowed to exit their vehicles at any point during the event.

    Stranger Things Drive-Into Experience Available in Los Angeles continuing through January and beyond.

    Originally planned to only be through the Halloween holidays, this event has been extended through to spring because of the speed in which it sells out. From the people who have attended it, we can honestly say that this experience is well worth the price point of the ticket.

    Additionally, if you are a fan of the series, this is a must for you!

    Tickets to the event start at $59 for two people in one car, but pricing is done per person and can get a little pricey. Fair warning tickets still do sell out but are added regularly.
