Nerd Out: December 2020 In The State Of Covid

So, COVID-19 is still here, just as the holidays are in full swing. So does that mean that Christmas is canceled? Not on our watch. To try to help people with the want to reach out and connect for the season, we have brought back our Nerd Out feature, to help the nerd and their families get out, but get out safely!

Before we go into the details of the events, we want to remind people that we are still within the thralls of a pandemic, and recommend people check out our article on ”If You Should Go Out” Here. In keeping with our promise within that article though, each event we are talking about will have an Is It Safe section discussing steps taken by the organization to keep the attendees safe. Please consider that though before making your ticket purchases.

So here is once again the lists of events headed to Los Angeles available this month. I hope you guys like the list, and let us know if you took advantage of these events, or if you want us to shout out about events in the following months!

The event is distanced, as long as the people inside the vehicle are your family. Performers will only approach vehicles that have the windows up, or that the participants have their masks on. Attendees will also only be allowed to leave their vehicles at the beginning or end of the experience, to use the restroom, and only if wearing a mask.

Tickets for this event are starting at $24.95 for adults, and $19.95 for children under 13, but will go up through the event. Purchase your tickets Here. Check out our announcement article Here, and our preview video Here!

It’s not required, but if you want to spread some Christmas cheer, you can always donate a toy in the Toys for Tots charity drive taking place at this event!

SoCal WonderLAnd Available in Woodland Hills all month long in December, except Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve.

Taking the spot left over from the Haunt’O Ween LA event in Woodland Hills, this option is giving you a similar drive-thru safety, but with a Christmas tinge!

Featured in this event will be millions of lights, synchronized music, and light show, Christmas themed sets, Christmas themed stories, a massive Christmas Tree, Candy Canes, and Christmas cheer!

Guests are required to stay in their vehicles, and while ticket holders are allowed to lower their windows, masks are required by all passengers when the windows are lowered. Staff will also remain six feet from the vehicles at all times. As we’ve said before, as long as you are only riding with those you live with, this is a very safe and secure way to celebrate and enjoy the holiday.

Tickets for this event is a flat $70 per vehicle, and lasts 20-25 minutes. Purchase your tickets Here. Check out our announcement article Here.

Candy Cane Lane Coming to Woodland Hills all month long in December.

This section of Woodland Hills goes all out for Christmas, and as a result, a community has sprung up. Every year the residents in this area decorate their house with thousands of bulbs and tons of displays. Showcasing a huge breach of commercial license laws, but for the benefit of the children who come to visit. In the past, attendance meant you might see a celebrity or two, enjoying the holiday, see roving vendors, could purchase fair/parade like toys, and Residents even got into the act selling hot cocoa and coffee. It’s hard to say if this will be the same with COVID-19.

You can either sit in your car, and move at the speed of a snail, or you can park at the main road, and walk through the neighborhood. Either way, take in the beauty, and showcase the wonderment for your younger children!

    Is It Safe?
This isn’t a formal event, but I am sure the residents would prefer that the visitors stay in their vehicles. Please be cautious though, and if you roll down your windows for photos and better looks, please have everyone in the vehicle wear a mask. As we’ve said before, as long as you are only riding with those you live with, this is a very safe and secure way to celebrate and enjoy the holiday.

There are no tickets for this event, it is free, and you can just attend!

Santa Saves Christmas! Available in Del Mar and Ventura starting today, and continuing all month long in December except Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Presented by Subaru, this event is a little like the other options we have shown above.

Using the technology of over a million LED lights, holograms, and projections (all set to holiday classic tunes), this event will put you through a symphony of the Christmas spirit! Travel through holiday-themed displays standing as tall as 40 feet!

There is a concession stand area with a restroom, but once you pass that, all patrons will be required to stay in their vehicle for the duration of the show/drive. As long as you wear a mask, and keep your distance in the concession area, this is the only potential risk of the event, as the rest will take place within your car. You are responsible for who you bring with you though.

Tickets to the event start at $49. Purchase your tickets Here.
