Analogue Pocket Brings Back Portable Gaming Of Yesteryears

The Analogue Pocket is a video game system that functions as multiple portable handheld devices that have long since stopped being produced. With no additional parts then what comes with the system the user can play over 2,500 video games from these handheld devices:

  • Game Boy
  • Game Boy Color
  • Game Boy Advance
  • However with additional cartridge adapters purchased separately, players can add their Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket Color, and Atari Lynx games to that very same list.

The device includes a 3.5” LCD screen with a stunning 1600×1440 resolution. While the screen is small it’s still a much higher resolution then the original consoles they are replacing.

The system doesn’t consider itself an emulator though, since it does not store roms. If you want to play the game, you will have to have the actual cartridge. The handheld though does have the software to decode and present the game to players of the device. The system though does allow you to create your own games with it’s retro game creator and proprietary GB Studio.

While the device clearly is designed as a handheld gaming system, it also has a lot of function with regards to a digital audio workstation. The pocket has a built-in synthesizer and sequencer.
