Video Game Review: My Brother Rabbit

SUMMARY
My Brother Rabbit is a surreal, point and click puzzle game, based on a child’s imagination. It takes you on a journey through five interactive worlds filled with incredible art and music.

STORY
The story is told in amazing, hand-drawn watercolor art splashing across the screen. A little girl is sick, and her family is very concerned. Her older brother and his stuffed rabbit aim to keep her spirits high with a story of how the rabbit sees that his plant friend is sick and goes on an adventure to try and get her well again.

GRAPHICS
The water color art cut scenes and the hand-drawn images of the world are breathtaking. I really enjoyed a lot of the silly animations of the rabbit, when he was trying to get your attention.

AUDIO
The soundtrack is something I would honestly want to take home. It’s so lovely and haunting. Absolutely gorgeous music from the composer Arkadiusz Reikowski.

CONTROLS
Using a joystick on the Switch took some getting used to, but overall everything worked fine. Sometimes you have to be pretty exact in where you click, or it doesn’t register, but it was never to a frustrating level.

PROS
Great puzzles, great story, great music and imagery, great all around! I really enjoyed this game, honestly. Anyone who enjoys quick puzzle games, point and click adventures, and those “find the hidden object” style games will love My Brother Rabbit.

CONS
It was pretty short. I think my fastest run was about an hour and a half. The first time I played it, I spent twice that. I really love games like this, and it just makes me sad when I can blow through them on a lunch break.

FINISH HIM
I honestly thought this game would go in a darker direction (maybe that’s just me being a dark person in general!) but I’m glad that it didn’t. My only con being the length of the game because I want more of it should be a big indicator that this game is absolutely worth getting. It’s only $14.99. It’s worth that for a couple hours of great fun. If the developers are reading, I would definitely pay a high price tag for more of this in a larger game, or added DLC levels.

My Brother Rabbit is available NOW on Steam, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Humble Bundle, and the iOS App Store
