The Blade Runner 2049 Experience – San Diego Comic Con

Tomorrow, Saturday, is the last day that you can take advantage of one of the best offsite activations available at San Diego Comic Con this year.

Warner Brothers have teamed up with Johnny Walker to produce an amazing one of a kind adventure.

The experience starts with art on the walls of multiple story boards, and right next to it, the finished shot.

Then the guests will where they will be placed into a motion chair, fitted to an Oculus VR, and headphoned to complete the cyborg look. The purpose of putting on all of this equipment? To give you a 360 4D feeling of being in a scene from the movie. The graphics aren’t amazing. The resolution is lacking, but what it is missing in polish, pays off at the next step.

When you take off your gear, a wall is now missing and before you is a scene dressed for Los Angeles, 2049. A neon-lit post-apocalyptic Los Angeles street scene sits before you complete with actors, all of which playing the role of street criminals, prostitutes, or police men.

Sometimes all in the same scene. You get to see the sights and hear the sounds as if you were in a scene of the movie. On display will be props and costumes from the Blade Runner 2049 set.

What happens after this area is where the really cool stuff happens with the help of Johnny Walker. Through the side, there is a food vendor, which will give you some themed food. Udon, one made with Johnny Walker in the sauce, and one without.

Then incase that wasn’t cool enough, they have a bar included in the activation.

Because, why not? Right?

At the bar, you have some pretty awesome tasting. Johnny Walker is letting you taste some of their awesome collection. While stored in small vials to give it a futuristic feel, each of the three vials holds a different option. The first is Johnny Walker Red (traditionally a mixing scotch) with ginger ale. The second is the traditional and often preferred Johnny Walker Black. Last though is the amazing and always cherished, Johnny Walker Blue.

If you haven’t had it. Stop what you are doing and wait over night for the activation in the morning.

You’re welcome in advance.

They will be open from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M..

  1. Hello! Do you have any photos of the props? Specifically the Binoculars and the Scanners? I am from a youth tech group in Santa Cruz CA. I am designing K’s scanner and some other props. I am making 3D files and someone else is doing most of the programming. So, I am searching the web for ANY more, maybe even better, photos of the Scanner and other props.
