SDCC 2019 – Legendary Comics 2019 and Beyond Panel

So many comics, so little time. Legendary Comics, a division of Legendary Entertainment, might sound familiar to you. We have reviewed a few of their comics here at Nerd News Social and they are also a media company which has their hands in developing films such as Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Detective Pikachu, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Kong: Skull Island, Warcraft, and so much more! So of course when we heard they were doing a panel at Comic Con San Diego of their upcoming comic book releases, we had to see what was coming. 

This panel touched on a few of their comic related expanding worlds of their titles Pacific Rim: Amara, Lost in Space, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu (coming soon), Trick ‘r Treat, and their MUTO-filled Monsterverse. Which means if you liked the movies, you will get even an even more enhanced story from the comics. Or if you didn’t catch these movies yet, no worries, you will still get great stories out of these and but beware… it may make you want to see the movie anyway. 

They also shared their original Webtoons titles Firebrand, Acursian, and Championess. You can read these comics for free on Webtoons.com along with so many other great comics. Here is some info about their original comics mentioned in the panel:

 

FIREBRAND

ACURSIAN

Starring John Barrowman, Acursian is a time-traveling magical journey set between 1745 and present day that follows Charlie Stewart, a dislikeable lawyer whose bloodline is cursed by the Gods after Charlie’s ancestor, Prince Charles Edward Stewart, makes a deal with Bregon, the god of war. The exchange quickly backfires with Bregon stealing three talismans from his sisters, the goddesses of fate and time, and a battle soon ensues. Until the talismans are returned, the three sisters can no longer control fate and time, and Charles Edward Stewart and his descendants are cursed to lose everything on their 40th birthdays.

CHAMPIONESS

Coming Fall 2020

In eighteenth century London, Elizabeth Wilkinson is struggling to make ends meet for her and her sister Tess. While Elizabeth works odd jobs at the local newspaper, her true passion is bare-kuckle boxing. The only way to make enough money off of boxing is to train with one of the famous retired boxers and the only real fight promoter of any notoriety, James Figg. Figg refuses to train Elizabeth at first because she is a woman, but she cunningly forces his hand by taking an ad in the newspaper and claiming that she will fight another female bare-knuckle boxer as Figg’s pupil. As Elizabeth trains with Figg and James Stokes, she is forced to come to terms with her half-Indian side and her criminal father as she faces the powerful female bare-knuckle boxers of her day.
