Nerd Taste of Hawaii: Maui Fish’n Chips

While in Kihei, Maui, we are looking for a affordable and fast place to eat lunch.

A local suggested to us Maui Fish’n Chips.

I’m a huge fan of fish and chips, it’s my favorite British dish. Which is weird, since I don’t really eat fish. That being said, it seemed like a no brainer, especially since a local suggested it!

You don’t need a lot for a simple fish and chip stand, and not to denigrate this location, they didn’t appear to have much. The first thing you notice approaching the establishment, is that it’s quaint, and in a strip mall. They have a couple tables within the walls of the business, but it’s primarily outdoor seating in a common area shared by three shops. The tables, however, are under a little bit of shade.

That being said, what this establishment lacks in flair and style, it makes up for in food!

Fish and chips are just battered fish, usually cod, and people love that dish with just the cod alone. Here at Maui Fish’n Chips you have some options though. Your options for your battered fish can be Basa (Catfish), Cod, Ono, Mahi, Ahi. They also had shrimp and calamari though!

The prices are very reasonable though, so if you are looking for a tasty option and are in Kihei, make sure to stop by Maui Fish’n Chips, and if you do, hit up Maui Bread Company in the same strip mall, you won’t be disappointed!
