More and more people are getting vaccines and as a result, the world is opening. Nerd society is returning, and more and more opportunities arise! To help you find some fun events, we continue our monthly endeavor to bring you some of the choice events for the Los Angeles area!
Before we go into the details of the events, we want to remind people that we are still within the thralls of a pandemic, and recommend people check out our article on ”If You Should Go Out” Here. In keeping with our promise within that article though, each event we are talking about will have an Is It Safe section discussing steps taken by the organization to keep the attendees safe. Please consider that though before making your ticket purchases.
Some of the cool things going on this month are:
Wizard’s Den Available in Hollywood through August.
Fan of Wizards, magic, and alcoholic beverages? Then you’ll want to visit this magical pop-up. Included with the ticket are a 90-minute experience, a magic wand during your experience, a butterbeer, and two alcoholic potions that the potion master will help you make.
Is It Safe?
The event has limited its ticketing to 20 people per show, for the purpose of COVID-19 safety procedures. People must wear their masks when not drinking their alcoholic beverages, only groups that come together are allowed to sit together. Hand sanitizer is available at every table. You will be in an enclosed space with people though for 90 minutes, but this event is no more dangerous as dining indoors.
Torched: Pop Up Dining Experience Available at the W Hollywood Hotel throughout July 31, 2021.
The people behind the Gastro Garage have set up a temporary pop-up above Hollywood at the rooftop location of the W Hollywood Hotel. Meals are prepared on-site, live, before you with a blowtorch. Each mean comes with 8 courses, and if purchase your tickets through Fever it includes a free cocktail. The event runs only after 7:00 p.m., because of course, you want the night sky to showcase the beautiful flames.
Is It Safe?
The staff wears masks, and all attendees are wearing masks to enter the establishment, but clearly, they must take them off to eat. However, the event is taking place on the roof of the W Hollywood Hotel and is open air. This makes the event much safer than indoor dining.

Hidden in the Westminster Mall, this donut-themed experience is fun for the whole family. Multiple rooms will give you photo opportunities and are great for sharing on social media as you and your group delve into the experience.
The event is sponsored by Krispy Kreme, and I love that they even give support for people to bring their pets!

Puppet Up! Available in Hollywood on July 31st and August 1st.
Taking place at the Henson Studios, at the historic Chaplin Stage, Puppet Up! mixes improve comedy with Puppets. The experience is very adult, so I definitely would not recommend it for people under 18. They recommend 16 and above, and will not allow anyone in the event under 14 years old.
There are only four shows, so if you want to attend, then I highly recommend that you get your tickets before they sell out.
Is It Safe?
While we don’t know a lot about the procedures for safety, we do have to warn that this is an indoor event, and will last for some time, so I would recommend this event specifically for only vaccinated people, to be safe.
