Movies and Videos On Demand For The Week Of September 25, 2020

As we prepare for the opening of theaters and the return to normal life practices, we want to remind people that we are still within the thralls of a pandemic, and recommend people check out our article on ”If You Should Go Out” Here. Until then though, if you do go to a theater make sure it has a policy of requiring attendees to wear masks, and sit in isolated groups out of proximity of other viewers.

Ava – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 25%

Ava, played by Jessica Chastain, has been working as one of the best and deadliest of mercenary in her organization until a job comes back with to many questions. Now her inquisitive nature has put a mark on her own head, as her organization has marked her for death.

If you are looking for an action film, this movie fits the bill. However fair warning the ratings on the film is low, but if you just want an action film, and don’t mind, then lean in and enjoy.

Kajillionaire – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 92%

Two parents, played by Richard Jenkins and Debra Winger, have spent their lives raising their daughter, now 26 and played by Evan Rachel Wood to view the world as a con. However when she begins to question the life they have lived, her parents are forced to charm a stranger, played by Gina Rodriquez, to join the heist, but things don’t go so well.

This solid heist film pits the story of a perfect con, and the trouble of family. If you too have questioned the lessons of your parents, or as a parent attempted to teach your children how to live like you do, then this movie will connect to you on a personal level.

LX 2048 – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

The world has changed so much in the years, but the main character of this movie, played by James D’Arcy, has attempted to hold onto his life. He has had children, drives to work, in a world where those things are relics of the past. Now as he finds out that he is dying of a disease, he tries to make the most of his remaining days before his clone takes over his life, wife, and children.

This sad world looks way to believable as we endure plagues, wildfires and natural disasters. The terror of a modern world adapting to a point where humanity is left behind is too believable. If you are a fan of sci-fi then this is a good film for you.

Misbehaviour – Releasing in Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 88%

In 1970s a beauty pageant is all anyone can think of in London, when a team of women, played by Keira Knightley, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jessie Buckley, Keeley Hawes, and Lesley Manville, come up with a plan to disrupt and potentially stop the “Miss World” beauty competition.

It’s insane in a modern world that the concept of a beauty pageant still exists, but to be fair this movie does take place in the 1970s. It’s good to know that even then people found them to be repugnant orchestration of disgusting trite. That being said I’ve been waiting to watch Keira Knightly in another film!

Rogue Warfare: Death of a Nation – Releasing on Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

The Final in the chapter of Will Yun Lee’s Rogue Warfare, Death of a Nation deals with the team discovering plans for a deadly bomb to detonate, but they have a limited time to defuse the bomb or the deaths will be massive. Does the team have what it takes to save the day?

I still love Will Yun Lee’s performance in the recently canceled Altered Carbon, while the movies aren’t amazing, they are solid action films. I would recommend picking up a the prior movies so that you would understand the story leading up to it.
