We haven’t reviewed Source Point Press yet for any of their prior work, but they were good enough to reach out to us about their newest book with a perfect flair for the upcoming Halloween season, The Winchester Mystery House. This story is set in the iconic real-life place, California landmark, and historical building, the Winchester House, a place reported to be haunted by the spirits of those who have died by the guns made under the same manufacture’s name. Story has it that the widow Winchester believed that if she didn’t keep building onto the house, the ghosts would get her.
What then came of the property is an oddity that twists and turns with doors that lead to nowhere. It’s truly a sight to be seen!
Basic Synopsis
This first comic in the series brings us the genesis of the construction of the Winchester house. We meet the widow Winchester and the first key characters on the working crew. I like the atmosphere brought to life in the illustrations. The comic ends on a cliffhanger, but that is expected in a multi-part comic story.
My Take
I am looking forward to how the author will bring their own perspective and story telling to one of my favorite landmarks from my home state. This is definitely a comic for those who love haunted histories and landmarks with tragic tales!
