Nerd Taste of LA: Beetle House, Beetle House, BEETLE HOUSE LA!

Right off the Hollywood Walk of Fame lies a place where everyday is Halloween! We at Nerd News Social love a good excuse to grab a drink and find it our duty to report on such an event, so we took a field trip to share with you our first hand experience of the Tim Burton themed bar, Beetle House LA. What started off as a pop up in New York has become so successful that it’s popped out and has come to Hollywood California.

As soon as we walked in we were met with darkness and amazing music. We walked up the dark stairs (elevator available if needed) and as soon as we saw the main floor, we knew we were “home.” There was so many characters and props from the various Tim Burton movies as well as perfectly themed art covering the walls. The amount of detail in this place made me wish it was also a hotel. Hint, hint, to whoever can make this happen.

During our visit we were lucky enough to see two amazing professional cosplayers who frequent Beetle House LA, Jack Skellington from “Nightmare Before Christmas” and Catwoman from “Batman Returns.” Other frequenters are Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, The Mad Hatter, as well as sword swallowers, and others of the sort.

Not only did the cosplayers play their character flawlessly inside and out, the bartenders working there were amazingly friendly. Now seems like a good point for us to talk about the themed food and drinks! The imagination behind these items were brilliant! Some drinks, like the Big Fish Bowl, included candy and dry ice which made a spectacle of a drink. And they cost about how much you would figure. Not crazy expensive, about average prices for these things in Hollywood.

There are two areas to Beetle House LA, the bar which is a large area anyone can attend, and a separate room for the restaurant portion which you need a reservation for. We hung out in a large comfortable booth the bar area and loved everything we tried which was the Coco Skellington, Bio Exorcism, Big Fish Bowl, Frankenstein Fries, and the Willy Wings with orange soda glaze! In fact, the bar area is laid out very well in that there are lots of nooks and crannies people can comfortably hang out.

There is only one thing I can hate on, which is the parking outside of Beetle House. Be sure to check for the no parking signs which say no parking after a certain time on the phone poles, it doesn’t state info this for street parking on the payment device. Take the safe route and pay for a parking lot spot. But don’t let this stop you, be sure to visit Beetle House LA or NY if you get the chance, it gets our vote!

Stay tuned for more Nerd News Social adventures! Next up we will be visiting Scum & Villainy. If there is a place you would like to recommend and have us review in the Los Angeles area, let us know in the comments.
