Check Out Our Thoughts On ZVOX’s AV50s

We are huge fans of ZVOX, and if you doubt that, then see how I gushed over them (and talked about the importance of hearing your shows) in our prior article Here.

Now ZVOX has sent us a set of their AV50 noise-cancelling Bluetooth headphones. These bad boys come with a couple of nice features.

  • Noise Cancellation
  • AccuVoice
  • AptX Bluetooth
  • Lightweight Design
  • Noise Cancellation
First and formost, when it comes to the noise cancellation, it definitely has an effect and is helpful to remove those subtle outside noises while enjoying your favorite shows and broadcasts. It’s important to note that this is not probably the pair you’d want to wear around talking people, as it won’t remove noises that loud and present. However, it can help clear up a still room with small sounds that might affect your hearing of a show.

    AccuVoice
ZVOX does a great job pulling voices out of television programs and movies with their adaptive technology. This added boost will make the words easier to hear, but unfortunately with this device, there is no adjustment to how much louder the voices are. I personally love that amazing feature in all of ZVOX’s products, but I do miss the ability to amplify or decrease it. It’s important to note that the Noise Cancellation must be activated to be able to use the AccuVoice feature.

    AptX Bluetooth
AptX Bluetooth is a low latency Bluetooth system that works with almost all android devices. While I had problems connecting the device to my Sony TV, I was able to connect to another Bluetooth feature on my other lower-cost Television. I will specifically say that this isn’t a problem from the Headphones, and more an issue with devices limiting what they can connect to via Bluetooth for safety reasons. If your device doesn’t allow a connection, you can simply connect the item to it via a Bluetooth transmitter. Make sure the transmitter has low latency, or there may be a drop in audio lag.

    Lightweight Design
I’ll be honest, these beautiful headphones are lightweight and barely bother me with their weight clocking in at less than half a pound. Additionally, they come with a slimline carrying case that is only two and a half inches thick. Makes it easy to travel with them, taking up less space in your bags or backpacks, while keeping the headphones safe from damage.

    Gaming With Them
It’s important to note that these headphones are not specifically designed for gaming, but with our site being what it is, I found that it’s important to talk about these for the potential gain that these headphones may be able to provide. First and foremost, if they can’t connect with their low latency Bluetooth, then you can always connect the AV50s to your console using the supplied cord (most systems allow headsets to be plugged into the controllers). The noise cancellation does help with keeping you in the game, and if you have problems with making out the dialog in video games, then these headphones will definitely help you out.
