We Sit Down With Samurai Jack Creator

We sat down with Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of Samurai Jack during Comic Con last year.

With the show about to return to we give you the answers you are hoping for to help you get back into the new season:

Genndy Tartakovsky: Hey Everybody.
Interviewer: Why did you decide to come back and do Samurai Jack again?
Genndy: Well I had finished Hotel Transylvania 2, and after all the press and it came out. I started looking for other work, and things were slow. I had been trying to make a Samurai Jack movie for the last 8 years with other people but it never came out the right way. So I was literally sitting in the bathroom and I decided maybe everything is going slow, lets see what happens. If I kinda put it out there, if anyone wants to make it. So I sent out an email about it, I got it right back. I got on the phone with Mike Laslo who runs Adult Swim, and we talked and within two weeks we got it started.
Interviewer: Is this gonna be the final season, of you wrapping it all up?
Genndy: Yeah, it’s the final journey. What ever happens at the end is gonna happen.
Interviewer: How many episodes will it be?
Genndy: Ten episodes.
Interviewer: Did you feel like you could get everything you needed in these ten?
Genndy: For sure, the great thing that turns out, in the movie I wanted to finish it some how. I had all these different ideas, and I wanted to make it all work no matter what version cause they were strong, and with a TV show I have like three movies. I believe it worked out. Some people believe in destiny as I do and fate, it’s the best vehicle for the story and for Jack to finish.
Interviewer: Anything else you are working on after Samurai Jack that we should look out for?
Genndy: I’ll be directing Hotel Transylvania 3. We have a really fun new idea in place. It should be more visual hopefully elevate it to the next level. After that I don’t know.
