Star Ocean: First Departure R by Square-Enix
Classic gamers will remember the ancient days of 90s gaming. The Super Famicom. SNES. 16-bits. Blowing in cartridges. Controllers big enough for our hands at the time, but now you’re all grown up and the controller is so small you get cramps when you play Street Fighter II. Back in the days of Spice Girls and Beanie Babies, we had a little game called Star Ocean. Set in the future, you play as Roddick, a member of the defense force. While you’re out on patrol, you find out that there’s a rare disease that’d spreading quickly, and it turns people to stone! It’s your task to prevent this epidemic from continuing to spread, and cure the poor citizens of the sleepy town of Muah.

Not only have the graphics been upgraded considerably, but the illustrations have been completely redrawn to look closer to what you see in Star Ocean 4. Don’t like the newer look? No problem! You have the option to change it to whichever design you prefer.

Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition by Skybound Games
The closest thing we can get to D&D without scheduling issues, NWN has been a staple for nerd for over a decade. The Enhanced Edition brings all the dungeon crawling, magic-wielding, monster-slaying glory back to the limelight. It includes all the expansion packs, which is also pretty great! It’ll trigger some heavy nostalgia with the old school visuals, but it’ll be old school visuals in amazing 4k! In other words, it’s chunky 3D from the dark ages of 2002, but without all that pesky pixelation you had to put up with if you were playing on an emulator or Game Spy. Bonus: If you somehow held on to all your game saves or mods, you can use them in the Enhanced Edition!
