Who doesn’t love a good villain. If done well, a villain can be understood, they can be sympathized with. This makes a villain have staying power, and makes the reader or viewer not want to see them murdered or easily defeated.
From the tragic backstory, to the constant flip back and forth on the side of right and wrong, Magneto is an amazing villain, if he is anything.
