Tips For Open Registration San Diego Comic Con 2020

The event will take place on the 22nd through the 26th in July of 2020, but you can see if you’ll be able to attend on November 16th, at 9:00 a.m. PST.

So how do you nab those magical and illusive golden tickets to one of the years most impressive and interesting nerd events?

Well if anyone tells you they have a sure fire way to obtain those tickets, I would immediately run from them, because they are either a liar, a con man, or a literal potato. No joke.

So then why did I make this post? Well to be honest, this is not a fool proof way, but just basic suggestions, which may help you, if you haven’t already started using them.

FIRST: Sign Up!

To be a part of the Open Registration you have to have a Comic-Con Member ID, and if you don’t have one, then you can’t gain tickets, or have tickets purchased for you. All attendees need an ID, not just the purchaser.

So if you haven’t done so yet, then you are unfortunately out of luck for now. Only people with accounts created prior to November 4th, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. PST are able to participate in Open Registration.

However, there is always next year. So head Here to sign up for an account now!

SECOND: Prepare!

Have your username, email, and password to your Member ID now. Do not wait. Have it. Write it down. Be able to recite it blindfolded. Make sure you have the money in the account. You don’t want to get your tickets and then find out your card is maxed out, or that funds have to be moved around and miss your purchase window.

If you aren’t ready by the 10th of November, then you’ve already failed.

THIRD: Show Up!

Registration is on November 16th at 9:00 a.m. PST. the lobby will be open at 8:00 a.m. PST. So set every alarm in your house, car, phone, watch… EVERYWHERE! If you miss this, or sleep through it, you’ll have no one to blame.

FOURTH: Work in Pairs!

You can purchase tickets for up to four parties from the available stock when you enter the purchasing room. So if you have friends make sure to work with them.

I have felt horrible in the past when I got in early and had the ability to purchase tickets for more then myself but just let them slide away unspent.

So communicate early with your friends. If they want to attend the convention, then not only do you need to know their Member ID, but they better damn well be in the lobby trying to get tickets for you. Don’t stop at just four people in your group trying. Load um up! But be honest with your group. If you have 8 people trying, and only one person gets in, know if you are on their list of 3 best friends, so you don’t start premature celebrating.

FIFTH: PATIENCE!

No matter how hard you want to, do not manually refresh you screen. If you do, then you will lose your place in the lottery and be at the back of the bus, and that means you definitely will not get a ticket.

SIXTH: Cross Your Fingers!

No matter how hard you try, a number generator controls your outcome. Lean into the number generator and the luck. Perform what ever dark ritual you think will help.

FIFTH: Compromise!

Hey, so they already ran out of tickets for preview night, Friday and Saturday. Kids Day, A.K.A Sunday is still fun! Even if it does end early and everyone flees San Diego.

You don’t need to have a pass to every day to have fun every day at the con!

SIXTH: Realization!

You didn’t really want to go to the convention anyway, Who wants to drop $1,500 on a hotel room anyway?

I bet the convention tastes bad too.

Well I hope this guide has been helpful, and you get your tickets, tell us how you do in the comments below.
