One of the most interesting things I personally keep forgetting about San Diego Comic Con, is that within the gaming department, they have a contest for Pokemon Go, and have for a couple years.
To correct my constant mistake, and to illuminate people who are unaware, lets talk a little about it!
In the gaming department, in the Pokemon room, usually used for the collectible card game, right at the front of the entry door, is a sign up table.
At the sign up table they hand you a sign up sheet/guide. On it your stats are marked:
And frankly any specific numbers that relate to the years challenges.
Then just like you would do for Pokemon Go normally, you must set out to solve the convention’s challenge. This year it was spinning pokestops, catching pokemon, and taking selfies.
Specifically selfies with the Detective Pikachu Activation and Nintendo Game Lounge, which had demos of Pokemon Sword and Shield.
If you completed the tasks you could win prizes like plushes, collectible cards, and toys. People who completed the challenge also got in a drawing to get a special trade, which could be a regional pokemon!
Fair warning for people who try to play Pokemon during the convention, the convention floor is very solidly built, and will play havoc with your GPS, plus draining your battery. Phone usage outside of the convention and inside the convention are also dangerous. Because of large crowds, it’s easy to bump into, and be bumped into. I recommend paying attention to where you are walking.
