Nerd Out: September 2021

We have officially entered spooky season! Masks are going off, and then going back on, but events are coming back this year. This article isn’t about Halloween events though, as we will be releasing a stand-alone article for Halloween events. However, for the other events check out our list!

Before we go into the details of the events, we want to remind people that we are still within the thralls of a pandemic, and recommend people check out our article on ”If You Should Go Out” Here. In keeping with our promise within that article though, each event we are talking about will have an Is It Safe section discussing steps taken by the organization to keep the attendees safe. Please consider that though before making your ticket purchases.

  • Elsewhere at the Madcap Motel Available in Los Angeles on select days throughout September 19, 2021.

    Experience the Madcap Hotel, a place like no other throughout the world. Upon entering you’ll be walking into a bygone era of the yesteryears Los Angeles. The surreal experience is safe and fun for the whole family as you explore cross dimensions and hidden rooms that can take you to jungles and to places your eyes have never seen before.

    Is It Safe?
    To enter the experience, members need to wear masks and are subject to a temperature check. There are hand sanitizer stations set up throughout the space, and social distancing is monitored throughout the space by staff. Cleanings occur throughout the day, and ticket sales are limited to specific time windows to control the number of people at the experience.

    Donut Life Museum Available in Westminster through October.

    Hidden in the Westminster Mall, this donut-themed experience is fun for the whole family. Multiple rooms will give you photo opportunities and are great for sharing on social media as you and your group delve into the experience.

    The event is sponsored by Krispy Kreme, and I love that they even give support for people to bring their pets!

    Is It Safe?
    For the time, to enter the experience, members need to wear masks and are subject to a temperature check. Ticket sales are limited to specific time windows to control the number of people at the experience.

    Viva Las Vengeance VR Experience Available at the Century City Mall for a limited time (at least until September 19, 2021).

    Did you love the Netflix film Army of the Dead from Zack Snyder? Well, get used to it because there will be more movies in this cinematic world. Part of the fun comes with this VR experience that will tour the USA. At it fans will be able to pick an avatar, pick a weapon loadout and fight zombies in a motion vehicle that really makes you feel like you are in the game!

    The location also has a swag/merch shop where people can buy amazing and soft-themed clothing, and a Taco Lounge from Sin City Tacos. The food is great and can be ordered in advance on the Go by Citizen App. Tickets are not required for the taco lounge or the merch shop.

    This experience is running now at this time and will continue for a limited in Los Angeles, then it will continue to New York, Las Vegas, and all over the USA! It’s a 30-minute long experience, but well worth the price.

    Is It Safe?
    The event space is regularly cleaned and sanitized between users. Additionally, the attendees are around 4-5 feet apart for a limited amount of time. While the experience does require masks for people attending and experiencing the experience, the activation is located within the Westfield Century City Mall. Since the Century City Mall is open-air, many of the mall attendees will not be wearing masks. If you wish to avoid the crowds of unmasked, then make sure to park on the 5th floor of the mall, close to the event and you won’t have to deal with the unmasked.

    The Roller Disco: Los Angeles – ’80s Retro Rollerskating Available in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 25, 2021.

    This is a one-day event, with multiple windows throughout the day starting at 11:00 a.m. and continuing until 8:30 p.m. with 1 hour and 30 minutes options throughout.

    Is It Safe?
    The hope is that the event will be limited, but with 80 people at the event at once, this is a riskier event since it takes place indoors. Keep your distance, and make sure you wear a mask, keep the hand sanitizer nearby!

    Chicken Wing Festival: Los Angeles Available in Los Angeles on October 3rd.

    While we don’t really cover events for the next month, by the time we have our next article, it will already be too late to get your own tickets!

    A one-day festival in Los Angeles focusing on the much-loved Chicken Wing! On October 3rd, 2021 this festival will open and have a variety of wings and craft beer to enjoy. While at the event, there will be food challenges and live music to keep your interests. Come alone, and taste the flavor, or bring friends and see who can pound the most wings!

    Is It Safe?
    This is an open-air event, so while there will be people present, as long as you keep your distance, and take caution when taking off your mask to eat, then you should be able to avoid risks but do your best to avoid gathering together for prolonged periods of time.
