Nerd Out: October 2021

Before we go into the details of the events, we want to remind people that we are still within the thralls of a pandemic, and recommend people check out our article on ”If You Should Go Out” Here. In keeping with our promise within that article though, each event we are talking about will have an Is It Safe section discussing steps taken by the organization to keep the attendees safe. Please consider that though before making your ticket purchases.

  • Elsewhere at the Madcap Motel Available in Los Angeles on select days throughout October 17, 2021.

    Experience the Madcap Hotel, a place like no other throughout the world. Upon entering you’ll be walking into a bygone era of the yesteryears Los Angeles. The surreal experience is safe and fun for the whole family as you explore cross dimensions and hidden rooms that can take you to jungles and to places your eyes have never seen before.

    Is It Safe?
    To enter the experience, members need to wear masks and are subject to a temperature check. There are hand sanitizer stations set up throughout the space, and social distancing is monitored throughout the space by staff. Cleanings occur throughout the day, and ticket sales are limited to specific time windows to control the number of people at the experience.

    Donut Life Museum Available in Westminster through October.

    Hidden in the Westminster Mall, this donut-themed experience is fun for the whole family. Multiple rooms will give you photo opportunities and are great for sharing on social media as you and your group delve into the experience.

    The event is sponsored by Krispy Kreme, and I love that they even give support for people to bring their pets!

    Is It Safe?
    For the time, to enter the experience, members need to wear masks and are subject to a temperature check. Ticket sales are limited to specific time windows to control the number of people at the experience.

    Haunt O’Ween LA Available in Woodland Hills through October 31st, 2021.

    Looking for a family-friendly experience for families with little ones, then Haunt O’ Ween in the Woodland Hills Topanga Mall is an awesome option. Families will walk through the experience and take their time, which includes faux houses for kids to trick or treat at!

    The event also has a wine tasting garden, food trucks, and plenty of pumpkins for purchase and carving! While there are additional purchases for the event over the ticket pricing.

    Is It Safe?
    It’s outdoor, so as long as you keep your mask on, and distance from separate parties, then you’ll be good for the event. Also when dealing with public events, it’s always best to have been vaccinated before attending events.

    Now Screaming – House Of Horrors Available in West Hollywood through November 1st, 2021.

    This is Amazon’s Pop-Up location and it’s been changed into the House Of Horrors to celebrate the launch of their horror-themed community, Now Screaming! Within you can find a lot of awesome costume options based on their horror-themed original shows.

    They’ve decked out the space with photo-ops, mocktails, candy, and a DJ! Get in the mood early!

    Is It Safe?
    It’s indoors, so you need to wear a mask, but they limit entrance to prevent it from overcrowding. Additionally, the items are not actually physically taken from the location and are shipped directly to you.

    There are no tickets for the event and it’s limited to its windows of 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. the rest of the week. Additionally, if you want to know more about this event, check out preview article Here.

    The Alice: An Immersive Cocktail Experience In Los Angeles starting October 28th 2021, through January 2022.

    Are you a fan of the world of Alice in Wonderland? Well, Hidden events give you the chance to peer through the looking glass with this immersive experience. Make some teapot cocktails, eat some “Eat Me” cake, and enjoy the experience and entertainment.

    We’ve covered their types of experiences before, as they have also run the Wizard’s Den experience before.

    Is It Safe?
    It’s indoors, so you need to wear a mask when not eating or drinking. Recommend being vaccinated before attending the event, and additionally making sure that you attend and sit at a table with only your close family.
