Nerd Out: June 2021

More and more people are getting vaccines and as a result, the world is opening. Nerd society is returning, and more and more opportunities arise! To help you find some fun events, we continue our monthly endeavor to bring you some of the choice events for the Los Angeles area!

Before we go into the details of the events, we want to remind people that we are still within the thralls of a pandemic, and recommend people check out our article on ”If You Should Go Out” Here. In keeping with our promise within that article though, each event we are talking about will have an Is It Safe section discussing steps taken by the organization to keep the attendees safe. Please consider that though before making your ticket purchases.

    Fan of Wizards, magic, and alcoholic beverages? Then you’ll want to visit this magical pop-up. Included with the ticket are a 90-minute experience, a magic wand during your experience, a butterbeer, and two alcoholic potions that the potion master will help you make.

    Is It Safe?
    The event has limited its ticketing to 20 people per show, for the purpose of COVID-19 safety procedures. People must wear their masks when not drinking their alcoholic beverages, only groups that come together are allowed to sit together. Hand sanitizer is available at every table. You will be in an enclosed space with people though for 90 minutes, but this event is no more dangerous as dining indoors.

    Torched: Pop Up Dining Experience Available at the W Hollywood Hotel throughout June 12, 2021.

    The people behind the Gastro Garage have set up a temporary pop-up above Hollywood at the rooftop location of the W Hollywood Hotel. Meals are prepared on-site, live, before you with a blowtorch. Each mean comes with 8 courses, and if purchase your tickets through Fever it includes a free cocktail. The event runs only after 7:00 p.m., because of course, you want the night sky to showcase the beautiful flames.

    Is It Safe?
    The staff wears masks, and all attendees are wearing masks to enter the establishment, but clearly, they must take them off to eat. However, the event is taking place on the roof of the W Hollywood Hotel and is open air. This makes the event much safer than indoor dining.

    Elsewhere at the Madcap Motel Available in Los Angeles on select days throughout June 13, 2021.

    Experience the Madcap Hotel, a place like no other throughout the world. Upon entering you’ll be walking into a bygone era of the yesteryears Los Angeles. The surreal experience is safe and fun for the whole family as you explore cross dimensions and hidden rooms that can take you to jungles and to places your eyes have never seen before.

    Is It Safe?
    To enter the experience, members need to wear masks and are subject to a temperature check. There are hand sanitizer stations set up throughout the space, and social distancing is monitored throughout the space by staff. Cleanings occur throughout the day, and ticket sales are limited to specific time windows to control the number of people at the experience.

    Donut Life Museum Available in Westminster through the begining of September.

    Hidden in the Westminster Mall, this donut-themed experience is fun for the whole family. Multiple rooms will give you photo opportunities and are great for sharing on social media as you and your group delve into the experience.

    The event is sponsored by Krispy Kreme, and I love that they even give support for people to bring their pets!

    Is It Safe?
    For the time, to enter the experience, members need to wear masks and are subject to a temperature check. Ticket sales are limited to specific time windows to control the number of people at the experience.

    Tickets generally cost $25 dollars for adults, but there is special pricing available for children, pets, and others. Purchase your tickets Here.

    Barkfest Available in Inglewood on June 26 and 27th.

    Homes Fur All is bringing the Barkfest to Sofi Stadium in Inglewood. It’s a two-day event for people to bring their pets with tons of activities for pet owners, discount pet vaccines, and neuter vouchers.

    There will be tons of shows, entertainment, and a couple of contests to connect the attendees.

    Is It Safe?
    While we don’t know a lot about the procedures for safety, it is an outdoor event and as long as you keep your distance, it shouldn’t be too much of a risk.
