Nerd Out: January 2020

It’s a new year, and we are here to help you fulfil your New Years Resolutions to get out and do more fun events this year.

That being said, here are the fun stuff that you wont want to miss:

  • Animé Los Angeles
  • Bricks LA
  • Long Beach Comic Expo
  • Wizards’s Beer Festival
  • Animé Los Angeles Available in Ontario, California on January 9, 2020 through January 12, 2020.

If you are a fan of Anime, and are looking for a place to dress up in Cosplay, celebrate with likeminded people, or meet your favorite voice actors and writers, then there is no better a place to head this January then Animé Los Angeles.

Convention fair of anime conventions from Cosplay contests, to autographs. They do however even have a more risque adult turn, as they will have an adult fashion show, focusing on a lingerie styled cosplay contest/party. You know… not for kids.

General Admission tickets to the convention costs $25 on Thursday, $35 on Friday and Sunday, and $45 for Saturday. Purchase your tickets Here

Bricks LA Available in Pasadena, California on January 11, 2020 and January 12, 2020.

A great plan for fans of legos to show off their creations, ideas, and hang out with likeminded master builders. If that’s not enough for you, they also have tons vendors selling vintage and hard to find lego products.

This event is great for kids, except for the fact that your children will want you to buy everything! They do have a play area of legos for the children though!

General access to the event is cheap because it’s family themed, only $5 dollars a ticket. Purchase your tickets Here

Long Beach Comic Expo Available in Long Beach, California on January 11, 2020 and January 12, 2020.

Long Beach runs two different conventions from the same company. Later in the year the convention is called Long Beach Comic Con, but earlier in the year it’s this convention, Long Beach Comic Expo. Regardless of the name for this convention, this event has the tradition faire of the others, panels, guests, exhibitors, and game companies running demos.

If you can’t make it out to the bigger conventions like Wondercon, Los Angeles Comic Con, or San Diego Comic Con, then you can still get the big con feel for a little convention price!

2 day passes for the convention are $55, Saturday tickets are $40, and Sunday tickets are $25. Purchase your tickets Here

Wizards’s Beer Festival Available in Los Angeles, California on January 26, 2020.

This unique wizard themed experience plans to give all the fans of the genre a once in a lifetime experience, as they pulling you into a world of magic and mystery.

I will honestly say that I would watch this event carefully, the days were supposed to be earlier in the month, but then went later, and now are only accessable through their Facebook page, and are gone from Eventbrite. That being said, if they get their stuff together, this will be an amazing experience.

Tickets for this event is $50, and have multiple time slots but limited tickets, so purchase them as soon as they become available again. Purchase your tickets Here

Also, Eric did a deeper dive into the event Here, check out more about what options are available.
