Movies Releasing For The Week of September 13

Freaks – Releasing 08/25/19
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 88%
Chloe has been locked away in her house and told her whole life that the world outside is dangerous, and venturing out could mean death to her and her father. She lives her life though believing that it can’t be true, then a mysterious and creepy ice cream truck driving man tells her everything she knows is a lie, it will turn her world upside down. But is everything her father told her untrue?

This is a dark and complex horror suspense film that will keep you on edge throughout, as they flip the script on the view several times, from showing you that it’s fake, to real, to fake, to well lets not spoil it. If you like the original works of M. Night Shyamalan, then I recommend you check out this movie!

The Goldfinch – Releasing 09/13/19
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)
An adaptation of Donna Tartt’s Pulitzer Prize winning book of the same name, tells the tale of Theodore Decker, played by Ansel Elgort. Theo was only a child when his mother was killed in a bombing. That incident though has thrown his entire life into chaos, except for one thing from it, a painting of a bird called “The Goldfinch”.

A story told through the life of the main character, with an a-list cast, and a heart breaking story. This movie is total Oscar bait. People will love this film, and if you like drama films you likely will as well.

Haunt – Releasing 09/13/19
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)
It’s Halloween, and a group of friends stumble upon an impressive commercial haunted house. They figure that it’s too good to pass up, but their opinion changes when the scares go from bland to real. Who will survive the house, and who will become part of the attraction.

Eli Roth’s new horror film, and boy is it freaky. With such a generic name you don’t expect much. Holy hell though does this movie deliver, even giving homage to horror movies of the past. I normally don’t like horror movies muddling outside of October, and tolerate them in September if they provide a great performance, and this looks like this is one of them!

Husters – Releasing 09/13/19
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)
Tired of being treated like crap their whole lives, strip club workers decide to get a head, by taking what they want from their wealthy prior clients. Everything starts off strong, as some of the clients even come back for more. Starring Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Lili Reinhart, Julia Stiles, Madeline Brewer, and Keke Palmer.

This is a lot like “Fun with Dick and Jane”, but the premise seems to focus on more the criminal aspect. Through the piece, it’s hard not to cheer on the strippers. A fun little piece that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Monos – Releasing 09/13/19
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 95%
The story of eight children, protecting each other in a jungle mountaintop. Armed to the teeth, they take a woman hostage, and fight to keep their independence and cult like lifestyle.

This movie… It’s heavy. People are calling the spiritual successor of “Apocalypse Now”. If you aren’t ready for heavy steer clear, but if you want something a bit more deep, this is a powerful film.
