Movies Releasing For The Week Of October 12, 2018

We are back for another week. Ready to get my … Interesting take on movies?

Here is what movies are coming out tomorrow, and if we suggest you watching them.

All Square – Releasing 10/12/18
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 100%

The age old story, of a man who starts a relationship with an old flame, and must form a relationship with their young son. A journey to connect over his little league games, and… Oh yeah the guy starts a bookie chain through the parents of the little league games. Problems get magnified, and out of control, and he looses everything, and has to decide what is important.

Did you see My Blue Heaven before? Take the charming style of Steve Martin out of it, and this feels a lot like that. It seems fun and cringe-worthy. If you are looking for a light hearted comedy then this will likely work out for you this week.

First Man – Releasing 10/12/18
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 88%

The story of Neil Armstrong, and his time at NASA, his mission to the moon. The course of the film spans 1961-1969, talking about the dangers and sacrifices of the astronauts , and explores the sacrifices and the cost—on Armstrong and on the nation—of one of the most dangerous missions in history.

This is going to be a heavy handed drama. If you are a fan of NASA and space travel, and always wanted to be an astronauts, then this movie is going to be a solid yes for you. It looks amazing, but if you can’t stand dramas or movie with a lot of heavy tones, then you might check out here.

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween – Releasing 10/12/18
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

A stand alone sequel to the prior Goosebumps movie, this time focusing on two boys who accidentally unleash a torrent of witches, monsters, and ghouls. The main villain of the movie is the infamous talking dummy from the book series.

I really don’t know why they didn’t hold onto the series as a continuation, but still want to put a “2” on it. However, if you got kids, and they are going to drag you to the theater, then you are going to be watching this movie. I am sorry because even as a die hard fan of Goosebumps, this movie looks horrible.

The Oath – Releasing 10/12/18
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 90%

In a crazy take on modern politics, the characters all exist in a world where their state forces all citizens to sign a loyalty oath to the President. The signing is to be completed the day after Thanksgiving. A liberal family gets together to celebrate, and politics get heavy. At one point, the conservative family member reports the liberal member, and violence occurs.

Don’t be confused. This is not a Thanksgiving movie. Is that a thing? This is a dark comedy, with a serious case of ADHD. That being said, if you are a liberal, and you love absurd humor, then you will likely be the audience that will watch this. However, if this gives some conservatives the idea, and this oath actually happens, I am blaming this movie for ruining the United States of America.

The Old Man & the Gun – Releasing 10/12/18
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 90%

Based on the story of Forrest Tucker, and played by Robert Redford. The movie covers his escape from San Quentin at 70 years old, then continues to his crime spree. He is being hunted by detective John Hunt, played by Casey Affleck. Hunt becomes obsessed with Forrest, his skill, and the relationship of Forrest and his love, played by Sissy Spacek.

This seems to be more like a low level action, more drama based movie. It’s an interesting film, but I have a problem with “True Story” movies, because they usually take a lot of liberties, and that leads to a misunderstanding of history. That being said, Robert Redford is amazing of an actor. Lastly though, I wont watch a movie with Casey Affleck anymore after the stories that came out about him. However if you want to see this movie, it looks like it’s well made.
