Movies Releasing For The Week of January 11

We are back for another week. Ready to get my … Interesting take on movies?

Here is what movies are coming out tomorrow, and if we suggest you watching them.

Pledge – Releasing 01/11/18
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 87%

College, the beginning of an adventure for three friends takes a turn when they get the chance to join an elite fraternity. However the only way to enter is to make it through hazing. The boys will be pressed to the limits, as they must do sadistic and dangerous things. How far will they go for sex, parties, and prestige.

Philip Andre Botello, Zack Weiner, and Zachery Byrd perform as the freshmen in a true sign why we should dismantle the current college system of the United States. I personally have no interest in watching this horror-lite movie. It’s not very suspenseful, but hey, if you miss those days of college, and wonder what hazing would be like if it was a movie, then step up and watch this film.

Tall Tales – Releasing 01/11/18
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

A new comer disrupts a bug kingdom and is framed for the kidnapping of the Queen bug. Now the new comer, Apollo will have to save the Queen from her evil cousin, and clear his name.

Justin Long is back, and in voice form. Long plays Apollo, a traveling cricket. I just wish he’d make Waiting 3. This however is a kids movie. Yeah, I won’t go further than to say that if you have a kid, this is probably the only family friendly movie to take them to this week.

The Upside – Releasing 01/11/18
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 43%

A paroled ex-convict, played by Kevin Hart, lucks into a cushy job of taking care of a paralyzed billionaire. The billionaire, played by Bryan Cranston, has had enough of people taking care of him and treating him as if he was weak and worthless, and hires the ex-convict for his honesty and his lack of interest in pandering to him. What happens next is the heartbreaking realization of the struggles that both go through, as they learn from one another.

I can’t stand Kevin Hart’s comedy, and love Bryan Cranston. That being said this movie actually looks really good to me. It’s getting paned for being trite, and saccharin but let’s be honest, you need a movie like that every once in a while. Additionally when else can we imagine a world where Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart are friends, then in this movie.

Uri – Releasing 01/11/18
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Terrorists attack Uri Army Base camp in Kashmir, killing unarmed soldiers. India will not stand for this, and decides that it is time to take the fight to the enemy. The movie focuses on the dramatization of the most successful Indian covert operation, and the soldiers that avenged their countries fallen heroes.

This movie is a heavy subject matter. As such, there is no Bollywood treatment here. This movie is passionate, solid, and heavy. The tone in some parts reminds me of Munich, but the movie doesn’t delve too deeply in the horrors that this plays on the soldiers that enact this revenge, like Munich did. It’s a subtitled film if you see it, but definitely looks worth the watch.

What Men Want – Releasing 01/11/18 – MOVED TO FEBRUARY 8th
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

A remake of What Women Want, A female sports agent is always being held from progressing, but her male colleagues are able to get the bigger clients, and therefore look better in the bosses eyes. The frustration of the main character comes to a head, when… well the character hits her head. Afterwards, she gains the ability to hear what other men are thinking. She decides to use this new found gift to help her out with her romance and work.

What Woman Want was a funny movie, but to be honest I stick clear of most Mel Gibson films. What Men Want looks amazing. I’m not a huge fan of Taraji P. Henson, but have always been impressed since her performance and exit from Person of Interest. This movie seems to hit the same notes without being stupid. I’m actually really interested to watch this.
