Naomie Harris plays a rookie cop who unintentionally captures footage of corrupt cops killing a young drug dealer. Her desire to do whats right is directly in conflict with her brothers at arms who will do what ever it takes to destroy the footage. With no allies except for one person, played by Tyrese Gibson, she has to navigate between the criminals who want revenge, and the police who want to silence her.

This is an interesting, and tragic film idea. Only because it’s so common for officers to be viewed as corrupt. I’m not saying that a lot of officers aren’t corrupt, but that the bad apples in the bunch are so constant, and loud that it has effected the whole view of the profession. That being said, if you are looking for a dramatic suspenseful film this weekend, go check this out!

A young nurse, played by Elizabeth Lail, gets an app that tells her that she will die in three days. It wouldn’t be important if the app wasn’t so accurate. Now she is racing the clock trying to find a way to save her life.

Horror movies, the proper time of year is now! This isn’t that amazing of a concept, but it definitely is interesting. I only fear that it might suffer the test of time, when youngest asks me what an app is in 10 years.

Milton Young had his whole live ahead of him. A promising baseball career as a pitcher. However, life takes a turn. The pressure of the failing family farm, takes his fathers life with a heart attack, and the events pulls Young down and leads him to drink causing him to damage his pitching arm. Now he has lost all prospects, and returns home to a life that is already on the edge of being taken away from him again. However, with the help of a stranger, Milton is able to find new meaning, and gain some semblence of a future.

This is a feel good movie that banks on hope. It’s what some would call emotional porn. That’s not a bad thing, you just have to be looking for it. If you are looking for a feel good movie, with an emotional start this this movie fits the bill and will get your emotions running.

The Kill Team – Releasing 10/25/19
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 10%

Soldier Andrew Briggman, played by Nat Wolff, witnesses other soilders killing innocent civilians in Afghanistan. Now he must grapple with his conscience, and keeping himself and his opinions guarded from his platoon, and their equally violent Sergeant, played by Alexander Skarsgård.

This story is from Dan Krauss, who some in the war history community may remember from his documentary of the same name, which this movie is based on. If you are looking for a heavy film, and want to see Alexander play a sadistic asshole, then I would recommend checking out this film.

Synonyms – Releasing 10/25/19

A young man from Israel imigrates to Paris, and finds his life starting off hard. To connect in a new place, he decides to leave his origins behind, and become French. To do so he has to learn the language and cast aside his past, which is harder then he intended. Based off the true love experiences of the writer and director Nadav Lapid.

This seems like a hard movie to watch, but that doesn’t make it a bad film. The idea of trying to start a new life, and the pasts coming back to haunt him as he does so can be triggering for so many. Watch with those warnings.
