Movies and Videos On Demand For The Week Of October 9, 2020

As we prepare for the opening of theaters and the return to normal life practices, we want to remind people that we are still within the thralls of a pandemic, and recommend people check out our article on ”If You Should Go Out” Here. Until then though, if you do go to a theater make sure it has a policy of requiring attendees to wear masks, and sit in isolated groups out of proximity of other viewers.

Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Reiss Gibbons, played by Alex Montagnani, is just trying to make himself one of the greatest fighters when he is given the chance to step into the “Legends Cage” but this fight is a little different then what he is used to, as he will be placed up against a professional wrestler. Is he ready for this fight, can he prepare in time, or is he putting his title on the line?

Looking for an MMA movie to get the blood pumping when Fight Island isn’t doing it? Well, this movie has everything you want to fill that fix until the sport can return as it once was. Mix the cross over between the world of professional wrestling, and you have two fan groups ready to rock!

The Doorman – Releasing on streaming.
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Ali, played by Ruby Rose, is a woman lost in life, after returning from combat to her home of New York City. In an effort to put her life back together, she obtains a job as a doorman guarding a family. However, when her manager turns out to be part of a gang of thieves led by an unscrupulous man, played by Jean Reno, she finds herself right back in the line of fire.

I’ll be honest, this movie feels a lot like Die Hard. I’m actually really excited to see Ruby’s performance, and the action looks seriously good. While it’s not a new genre or concept, sometimes you just need a solid action film to get you through the week.

Henchmen – Releasing on streaming.
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

An animated film, in which Lester, voiced by Thomas Middleditch, joins the Union of Evil, where he meets failed long time henchman Hank, voiced by James Marsden. While Hank doesn’t like to get attached to people, his resolve is put to the test when Lester accidentally steals their boss’s ultimate weapon.

Look, it’s animated, it looks like it’s in the style of Fortnite, and the stars aren’t A-listers but definitely people who have held their own in the industry recently. If you are looking for a family film, this one might just be up your alley for your young adults in your house, but I can’t guarantee you are going to enjoy it too.

The War With Grandpa – Releasing in theaters.
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

When his grandfather, played by Robert De Niro, has to move in with his family, he inadvertently takes his grandson’s room in the ordeal. However, Peter, played by Oakes Fegley, isn’t about to take this lying down, as he goes to war with his friends in a series of pranks. Grandpa has his own pranks, and his own friends too, as a war breaks out between the two.

I can’t shake the feeling that this either is a movie that was already made or that this is an episode of the Simpsons from ten years back. While I can’t help to feel sorry for Robert De Niro, I also won’t deny that this movie is probably the low intellect requiring film that we as a nation need right now to take our minds off of the dumpster fire that is our life. God, I miss my Grandfather.

Yellow Rose – Releasing in theaters.
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 86%

Rose Garcia, played by Eva Noblezada, is a Filipina teen growing up in a small town in Texas. She loves her family, and she loves her life, but she has dreams and aspirations of being a country music singer. However, before she can strike out on her dreams, she will have to decide between her family, and the only life she has known, or her dream.

A dream fulfilment movie, not to dissimilar to A Star Is Born, but with a more grounded, healthy starting point, Yellow Rose will pull at your heart and warm it all at the same time. It also doesn’t hurt, that according to reviews Eva Noblezada can sing!
