The Columnist – Releasing in Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 82%

After a series of death threats from people on social media, a columnist, played by Katja Herbers, decides to take the threat to the people and gets revenge for their comments, they thought would be protected by anonymity.

This day and age people say horrible things, thinking there will be no repercussions. While I wouldn’t want a person going around matching words with physical violence, it’s an interesting concept that seems like a more serious thriller aspect to the final scene of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, where the duo goes across the globe beating up their critics. If you are looking for a thriller though, this movie would be a good fit, also the next title Locked In would also do the job if you are anti news.

A single mother, played by Mena Suvari, and her daughter, played by Jasper Polish, were just visiting her storage facility, when a group of murderous criminals lead by Jeff Fahey, descended upon them. Now they must survive and escape the maze of corridors of the facility, while staying one step ahead of their pursuers.

An interesting twist on suspense driven thrillers. It feels part Die Hard, part Panic Room, as the criminals rush to get their loot, while trying to prevent the witnesses from escaping or alerting the police.

The Paper Tigers – Releasing in Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 100%

Once known as the “Three Tigers” these three aging martial artists, played by Alain Uy, Ron Yuan, and Mykel Shannon Jenkins, have moved on to parenthood, and the struggles of everyday life of middle-aged men. However, when their teacher is murdered, they have to put aside old grudged to avenge his death.

A martial arts movie for the mid-life crisis men of the world. But seriously though, the movie delivers the martial arts style of yesteryears, juxtapositioned with the humor of the actors being older in life, and out of step with their younger year training. The comedy style reminds us of the work of Jackie Chan.

The Water Man – Releasing in Theaters
