Movies and Videos On Demand For The Week Of December 24, 2021

As we prepare for the opening of theaters and the return to normal life practices, we want to remind people that we are still within the thralls of a pandemic, and recommend people check out our article on “If You Should Go Out” Here. Until then though, if you do go to a theater make sure it has a policy of requiring attendees to wear masks, and sit in isolated groups out of proximity of other viewers.

American Underdog – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 85%

Kurt Warner, played by Zachary Levi, was just a stockboy at a grocery store finds the motivation to fight for his chance to follow his dreams to be an NFL player. Thanks to the support of his wife, played by Anna Paquin, and his teammates, Warner takes his passion and becomes a champion!

If you love underdog stories, then this film will hit all the targets in your heart. Not to mention this film is also inspired by a true story. Do you have what it takes to follow your dream? Well, at least you can watch this movie.

A Journal for Jordan – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 40%

First Sergeant Charles Monroe King, played by Michael B. Jordan, is a soldier deployed in Iraq away from his infant son. To pass the time, and keep him connected to home, King creates a journal for his future son to read with advice and proof of his love for him.

This is based on a true story, and while I normally wouldn’t spoil the story, since this is the holidays I need you to know that King does not make it home to his son. This is a heavily dramatic film and if you aren’t prepared it will hit hard.

The King’s Man – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 43%

When the world’s most dangerous criminal masterminds and villains team up to start a war to kill millions, only one man can stand up and save the world. One… King’s Man.

A prequel to the original two first films, this story delves deeper into the lore but goes even more off the wall with its action and villains. Quite the fun action ride for the holidays is usually full of love and pleasantry.

The Matrix Resurrections – Releasing in Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 68%

Lost back in the Matrix with fragments of memories in his mind, Anderson is trying to make a way for himself. Therapy, and moments of peace, but something continues to nag at him dragging him down the rabbit hole, what is the Matrix.

We’ve been waiting for a Matrix movie for some time, and while there will be people who say it doesn’t compare, or it’s just fan service, it’s still a much-loved franchise which a bunch of actors returned to give the fans one more bite of the story. We can’t wait for it!

Sing 2 – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 67%

Buster Moon, voiced by Matthew McConaughey, is working hard to put together their best yet stage extravaganza. But can they get Bono to join the show to push it over the edge? Actual musician Bono is animated for the first time.

If you’ve got kids, let’s be honest you are stuck with this film this week, even if its rating was 5%.
