This year at E3, the world’s premier event for computer and video games and related products, Nerd News Social hit the floor to get you some exclusive inside looks through photos, connections, and first hand looks! We were able to be invited for a special look into the game Marvel’s Avengers through Square Enix, so let’s get started!
We got a first hand look into some official game play of a brand new storyline in the Avengers series. In this game, we begin at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
In the live game play we saw, you get to start the adventure along a story line using all of the main characters. Maybe this is so that we can get used to trying out each character. As the player, you can hear the characters communicating with each other through their headsets. This allows them to split up and come together, without the player forgetting about them. Also what I LOVED was that even though the resemblance of the characters we know and love from the cinematic universe are not portrayed in these characters, they talk and move just like how you’d imagine from the cinematic universe. Easy to get used to these slightly different faces and voices once you find out about this info. I mean, how many people do we have playing Batman? We don’t let that deter us from watching and even enjoying the Batman movies.
During this game play, it was a seamless transition to each character using some incredible moves true to the characters. It was truly incredible and very entertaining due to the action and commentary by the characters.
Through the game play, you will be able to unlock powerful skills and new gear to build your ideal version of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. When combined with original, fan-favorite, and classic outfits, there are nearly limitless ways to customize these iconic Heroes.
You can play single-player or up to four players can assemble online to defend the Earth from escalating threats. The narrative will be delivered over multiple years, with no random loot boxes or pay-to-win scenarios. Every new Super Hero and region will be delivered to players at no additional cost if you own the core game.
