JLab Audio Products Review: JBuds Frames, Epic Air ANC & Go Work

You may have seen our previous videos open boxing products from JLabs this included the JBuds Frames, the Epic Air ANC True Wireless Earbuds, and the Go Work headphones. The purpose of this article is a talk in more depth about our experience with these items over the last months or so, so you can get a better understanding of what which of these items would best fit your personal needs.

JBuds Frames

This item is really interesting as it rests on your glasses. It’s very helpful to relieve the stress on your inner ear caused by earbuds use, unsightly creases in your hair, or potential hair loss caused by prolonged use of headphones. Personally, as someone who suffers from tiny ear canals, I was actually very interesting to try this product out.

With regards to sound quality, which should be first and foremost concerned when dealing with audio devices, I was quite impressed with the discrete audio system. The system shoots directed sound to your ears, as opposed to earbuds which produce the audio inside your ear. The device doesn’t produce a lot of noise to your surrounding area, so it’s not likely to distract coworkers or neighbors. However, if you need privacy with your music choices or phone calls, then these are not the right product for you.

Additionally, I had two other complaints. The first, which could be all me, deals with a bug in the connection system. When trying to sync the JBud Frames to my phone, I would regularly find that one bud had connected, while the other one would not. It took about seven attempts to finally properly pair the device with my phone. Once that was done, it was a lot easier to connect them later. The second problem that I had was when I want to stop listening to music, I usually pull the headphones or earbuds off/out, so when the time came to stop listening to music with the JBud Frames, I took them off, which meant taking off my glasses, which I really need. Which made me of course have a problem with being able to see. This it’s probably not a problem a lot of other people will suffer, but if privacy is not a priority, you have sensitive ears, and you’re looking for a unique and interesting way to listen to audio, I suggest you give JBud Frames a try.

Epic Air ANC True Wireless Earbuds

The Epic Air earbuds are a low-profile high-powered audio device that is very interesting. On top of their noise-canceling features, the earbuds’ open hearing feature allows you to not just hear the audio that is being produced by the device, but also the surrounding noise around you amplified. I’ve talked in the past about how my High School made us feel very nervous about wearing headphones while walking around, for fear that we would be unaware of our surroundings, and be hit by a car. So being able to activate this pass-through feature while still hearing your music is a very very appreciated feature for me.

Additionally, the ability to use the earbud’s apps to adjust modify or change the button control features on the device is well appreciated. It was actually the one complaint that are other reviewer, Monica Scott, had about her personal JLab Executive earbuds.

If you want to be able to hear your surroundings well, enjoy your music, or just close your eyes to block out the outside world and Lose yourself, then these earbuds will allow you to do all of that at the push of a button.

Go Work On-Ear Headphones

I’m always a bigger fan of over-the-ear headphones, as opposed to on-the-ear headphones, but I will admit that the comfort level of the Go Work is impressive. The fabric that they used for the ear cups is exceptional. They really have been designed with the idea of an employee having to wear them for large periods of time. Not too far-fetched for a set of headphones called the “Go Work” I guess.

The device also comes with an adjustable mic that swivels up when not in use, and pulls down, with the ability to adjust placement to your preference. The mic can be muted via an easy and convenient off button on the center of the swivel base. When the mic has been muted, an LED glows red, so you won’t have any confusion. This is very helpful when engaging in Zoom or conference calls because you’ll notice the red light in your vision and know before you embarrass yourself by forgetting to unmute.

Lastly, the headphones are designed with long-term use, without having to charge, in mind. This is incredibly helpful in a workplace environment. I didn’t feel like I had to bring every power chord with me in my bag when I left home to go to the office.

If you need a headphone set for work that will go the distance and is designed with comfort in mind, you can do a lot worse than the Go Work headphones.
