HBO Max Acquires Streaming Rights for Studio Ghibli Films

For the first time ever, Studio Ghibli, or more specifically their North American distributor GKIDS, has licensed their 21 films to a Streaming Service. The complete Studio Ghibli film library will be available on HBO Max, including these titles:

  • Spirited Away
  • My Neighbor Totoro
  • Howl’s Moving Castle
  • Princess Mononoke
  • Kiki’s Delivery Service
  • Ponyo
  • Castle in the Sky
  • The Tale of The Princess Kaguya
  • …and More
  • So look forward to seeing all these amazing, and well loved films from Studio Ghibli on HBO Max’s premium streaming service when it launches in the spring of 2020. All of these titles will be available at launch of the service.

    Studio Ghibli specifically agreed to this, in hopes that “…existing Ghibli fans will be able enjoy their favorites and delve deeper into the library, while whole new audiences will be able to discover our films for the first time,” said Koji Hoshino, Chairman of Studio Ghibli.
