Celebrate First Contact Day With The Director’s Edition of Star Trek Movie!

First Contact Day may have occurred on April 5, 2063, a mere 41 years into the future, but there’s no reason we can’t celebrate it early!

For those not in the know, it’s the day that the Vulcans revealed themselves to the humans, after the completion of mankind’s first warp core test flight. As the Vulcans had a personal rule that they did not intercede in pre-warp societies, and allowed them to find their way into the galaxy before they connected.

What started after that meeting, was the birth of the world of Star Trek. First Contact Day led to humanity boldly going where no man has gone before. The journeys of Capt. Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, Rios, Pike, and Burnham would not exist if not for the actions of humanity on that day.

While one of the best showcases of this story would likely have been Star Trek: First Contact (1996), which tells the story up close as the crew of Next Generation attempt to stop the time traveling Borg from assimilating humanity at that pivotal moment. The good people of Paramount decided they would rather lean into their recently remastered and 4K version of Star Trek: The Motion Picture – Director’s Cut.

While the original cut was released in 1979, this version of the movie is beautifully presented for modern viewers in the best viewing possible ever! Additionally, this is a free feature for any user of Paramount+ in celebration of the fictional holiday of First Contact Day.
