Spider-Man: Far From Home – What You Should Know

This is truly the year of the super hero movies. Last year in 2018, there were six live-action superhero movies to hit theaters (Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Deadpool 2, Ant-Man & the Wasp, Venom and Aquaman). As for animated titles hitting the theater, there was Teen Titans Go! To The Movies and lets not forget Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Previously to that, in 2017 and 2016 each had seven movies, 2015 had three, 2014 had four, and 2013 had five. This year is only half way done and we are just getting started! So let’s talk about the next big superhero movie coming out this week, Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Well, it’s pretty obvious that Spider-Man survives Endgame. I mean, how else could he have a movie with the same character right after? Far From Home takes place right after the events of Endgame, so if you haven’t seen it yet, get yourself over to the theater and watch it! Because there will be major spoilers from Endgame in Far From Home.

I will avoid all spoilers in Endgame, but let’s get a refresher on Spider-Man Homecoming, because that’s the previous Spider-Man movie (besides his previous appearances in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame):

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May, under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark. Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

So, like I said, Far From Home will take place right after Endgame, this is what we know:

Peter Parker returns in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the next chapter of the Spider-Man: Homecoming series! Our friendly neighborhood superhero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent!

Many who have had the pleasure of seeing this movie ahead of the release date are already saying its the best Spider-Man cinematic movie thus far! They are also saying to stay for the post credit scenes! Do ittttt!

I am personally very excited to see Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio. There are rumors going around the internet about Mysterio. Some are saying that Mysterio is an older version of Spider-Man from a different universe. GASP! I do get mega Iron Man vibes from Mysterio though.

For those of you who don’t know much about Mysterio, here is a little background info:

Mysterio is the name of several fictional super-villains appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The first and most high-profile incarnation of Mysterio is Quentin Beck who we will see in the latest Spider-Man movie, although several other characters have since used the Mysterio alias. Quentin Beck, a special effects wizard and stunt man working for a major Hollywood studio with dreams of making a name for himself in the film industry. However, he came to see his career in special effects as a dead-end job. His attempts to become an actor were poorly received, but he realized that his expertise in illusions could make him an effective criminal. The suit contains devices to aid him, such as magnetic coil springs in his boots, holographic projector for 3D illusions, nozzles in the booths and wrists so he can release smoke, hypnogens, and hallucinogens. And thats just naming a few features of the suit. Like I said, very Ironman-like. The character has appeared in numerous Spider-Man cartoons and video games. In 2009, Mysterio was ranked as IGN’s 85th Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time.

Quentin Beck first delved into crime when he allied himself with the Phineas Mason, the criminal inventor known as the Tinkerer. Thwarted by Spider-Man and so, the hatred for Spider-Man begins.

At one point Beck joined Doctor Octopus and the Sinister Six. Thwarted again and again, Beck continuously was returned to prison where he once again plotted to take down Spider-Man, escape, and try again. Eventually, once again in prison, Beck finds out he’s dying due to prolonged exposure to his special effects chemicals. At this point, the current Spider-Man is not the same Spider-Man he knew, so he went after Daredevil. He later ends up committing suicide by shooting himself in his head.

But that’s not where his story ends. Even after death, his soul was sent to Hell, until Pitiful One gave him a chance to go back. Once again in the world of the living, Beck saw the new Mysterio, Francis Klum, who bought Beck’s old costume and continued Beck’s evil doings.

So that is just a little history on Beck. There is still so much more, but for now, this is even a bit beyond what is needed to know for the movie.

So what do you think? Will you be seeing Far From Home? Are you excited about Mysterio? Who’s your favorite Spider-Man villain? Let us know in the comments!
