We’ve covered the Evercade handheld console quite a bit, (you can see our first article on it Here), Evercade, having launched in 2020, has been very successful. Even launched a traditional non-portable model known as the Evercade VS. Now they are releasing a new console, the Evercade EXP with updated features, technology, and designs for the direction they want to take retro portable gaming. It’s important to note that the existing Evercade cartridge library of over 30 cartridge collections and over 300 games will still work for the Evercade EXP!
The new portable console is upgraded with the VS’s 1.5Ghz processor and 4GB of built in memory. Upgrading the screen, the Evercade EXP has a high resolution 4.3” IPS 800×480 screen with a tempered glass bezel for strong protection.
The console allows for vertical-oriented games thanks to it’s design to allow for ease of play when rotated 90 degrees. Called TATE mode, the design includes two buttons on the left side perfect for arcade shooters and more. The Evercade EXP also includes a USB-C for faster charging, and the mini-HDMI output for 720p to TVs. Another upgrade for the Evercade EXP is it’s built in WiFi which will help with updating, as well as the Evercade VS’s marketplace.
Included with the Evercade EXP will be the IREM Arcade 1 cartridge which will feature 6 classic games: R-Type, In The Hunt, Moon Patrol, 10 Yard Fight, Battle Chopper (Mr Heli), and Lightning Swords.
The Evercade EXP will become available in Winter this year, and will be available for $149.99. A black limited edition will be available with only 5,000 units at the price of $179.99 and will include an additional cartridge the Toaplan Arcade 1 Cartridge (Including games Flying Shark, Alcon (Slap Shot), Tiger-Heli, Truxton, Zero Wing, Guardian, Snow Bros, and Teki-Paki).
