E3 – Day 3, Monday June 11th – PC Gaming Show Conference

PC GAMING SHOW

The PC Gaming Show goes over over 30 games in this conference, as the host has a fat stack of cue cards, so I’m just going to jump right in with what was shown and announced this E3!

Satisfactory trailer.

It’s a game about building a huge automatic factory on an alien planet. You need to go into the alien world to collect the parts to build your factory. Not a great game for those big on preserving ecosystems, you need to expand your factory by gathering resources, building oil pumps and refineries, and clear cutting forests, fighting off local creatures in the many various biomes in the game. There’s a multiplayer co-op option where you can start up a server to play with your friends.

In Neo Cab, you play basically an Uber Driver, who is worried about not hearing from a friend.

You pick up fares and get rated on your driving, just like in reality. The underlying plot, though, is you find the reason your friend hasn’t replied to you is they were placed on a wanted poster and they’re laying low.
How you didn’t notice the 800 posters all over the city with your friend’s picture on it is probably why you got that One Star rating earlier.

This survival game will release on February 5th 2019.

Maverick’s Proving Grounds trailer

Maverick’s is a massive online battle royale style game, as you play with 1000 players. The depth of the game is obvious, as you can see there’s a lot of cool graphical things to make the game seem more dynamic (you leave footprints and damage foliage as you walk by). Similar to MMORPGs, this is a full-size world instead of a simple map.

The Forgotten City is a reimagining of the award-winning mod.

In this world, if even one person commits a sin, everyone is turned into statues. You go into the past to investigate and talk to people to prevent the responsible party from committing that one, devastating sin. Coming in 2019.

Star Control Origins trailer.

You’re taking control of a ship provided to you by Star Control, and you get to explore hundreds of worlds in this open universe action RPG. The universe is being fully simulated at all times, so even if you’re on a single moon, there are aliens interacting with each other on other planets. You can create your own ships, planets and adventures in this game. For multiplayer, you now have Fleet Battle mode, which includes local multiplayer in one ship or playing PvP Ship v Ship.
Preorder now on GOG and Steam and will launch Sept 20 2018

Hunt: Showdown was PC Gamer’s favorite game from last year.

There was a short trailer showing some new gameplay footage for the DLC that will be releasing just after E3. Vintage crossbows, grenades, and everyone with the same death scream.

Archangel: Hellfire was talked about briefly as well.

The new addition adds an off-rails multiplayer aspect with four maps, tons of weapons, 2v2 PvP, six different mechs, and is currently in early access. Full version releases July 17th.

Sinking City is an open-world Lovecraftian mystery game made by the people behind Sherlock Holmes. Put on your deerstalker and whip out your magnifying glass, because the devs explain that there will be no hand-holding in this adventure. You’ll need to use your wits to get you through the investigations in this one. They also have a sanity mechanic in the game, which impacts gameplay. Your character can lose his sanity, which means he sees hallucinations, hear distorted sounds, and it tells you, the player, that something is up and that you should take a step back from the direction you’re headed. Follow @thesinkingcity on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube for more information and updates about the game as they happen.

Warframe got an open world update last year, and the next quest is called the Sacrifice and will be coming later this week.

The Sacrifice continues the story from The Second Dream. They didn’t want to get too spoilery for people who want to catch up, and I’ll avoid the same stuff, but this one is going to be a really awesome new story and I can’t wait to play it! Watch more on War Frame at Twitch.tv/WarFrame live on July 7th and make sure you link your Warframe account to your Twitch account, so you can get free stuff in game!

Best of Japan trailer.

Sega is back and is coming with a bunch of oldies but goodies on one compilation disc coming later this year, for the first time on PC, starting with Yakuza Zero, which is available for preorder now and will release in early August on Steam.

Killing Floor 2 has four major updates this year.

First one was in March and there’s a new one coming soon. Mixing circus freaks with steam punk, they added a new weapon upgrade system (73 different upgradable weapons) which adds a lot of creativity to the game.

Help Lockheart fight off waves of steampunk clowns and robots and get to his island. This is available tomorrow!

Tripwire also has also decided to step into publishing, which means that indie developers will be able to get fair deals and rise above the noise of the masses. Tripwire will help with funding, mentoring, and marketing.

One more Tripwire announcement includes a new world exclusive from Blindside Games: Maneater is an open world RPG (“SharkPG”) where you play as the shark and just wreck people’s vacations.

You get a shark skill tree, you can get bigger teeth, snatch people off piers, etc. I didn’t know how much I needed this game until I saw the trailer today. Release date TBA.

Untitled Publisher showed three trailers:
Bravery Network Online trailer shows off an impressive, hand-drawn with some cool-looking turn-based fighting.

MorningStar trailer starts with farming for turnips then turns into a bleak office where the turnip is a computer program.

Overwhelm trailer looks like a very oldschool very pixelated action-packed side scrolling adventure. Overwhelm is available right now on Steam, with a special launch discount.

Jurassic World Evolution is available tomorrow, and allows you to create your own dino parks. Coming June 12for Xbox One, PS4, and PC

Stormland trailer

Insomiac makes a new VR open world game, where you play as a robot who is killed by other, meaner robots. A plant sprouts in just the right spot and reignites your battery. You go into this world to save your other robot friends from these mean robots. Movement looks really amazing, as you have a very inventive and fluid freedom of movement. The Tempest rearranges everything each week, which makes everything new and different all the time, so the dynamic world stays interesting and updated. Available on Oculus at a later date. Go to Oculus.com/Stormland for more info.

Night Call is a new detective drama where you play a Paris cabby who takes matters into his own hands when the local police investigations into the recent murders in your city reaches a stall.

You spend the game listening to and watching the habits of your fares, to uncover what’s happening. Learn more at NightCall-Game.com

Sable trailer

Looks like a really beautiful, hand drawn game. Open world, desert exploration game. Sable is a girl who leaves home to explore the world and learn about the people and their culture and history. Find out more info at SableGame.com

Star Citizen is still under development and showed a new trailer.

The game looks like it’s really coming along! Still no release date, but prepare for the alpha 3.2 update coming soon.

Predator 21x gaming laptop with a curved screen 4k monitor looks like one of the best gaming laptops on the market right now, and comes with a Pelican case to keep it safe on your travels. You can pick it up at MicroCenter and Amazon, among other retailers for a cool 9 grand, and they’re selling fast!

Genesis Alpha One is an open world experience where you can do crazy science stuff like take the DNA of the aliens you defeat and splice them with the DNA of your crew to create new life forms. This is how we ended up with the most dangerous dinosaur to ever exist in Jurassic World. When will our hubris end! You spend the game exploring the galaxy for resources to expand your ship and create a new place for you and your team to live.

Coming Sept 4 2018 on Xbox One, PS4, and Steam

Don’t Starve: Hamlet trailer

Next in the survival series, this cute, sketchy-style hand-drawn adventure game gets an expansion where Wilson discovers a HAMlet of Pigmen (get it?). Find out more on the Steam page. Coming this December.

Just Cause 4 makes yet another debut at E3, showing another trailer with largely the same info. I just really like this image:

Overkill’s The Walking Dead trailer is set in Washington D.C. and launches on November 6th in the Americas. November 8th for the rest of the world. You can preorder tomorrow!

TellTale also has a Walking Dead game. The Walking Dead: Final Season will be the last in the Walking Dead series for this developer. You’ll still have the same choice wheels, but you’ll now have an upgraded combat system where some of it is unscripted. You’ll also be able to use the over the shoulder camera so you can explore the environment more easily. The game starts off With Clementine traveling on the road with AJ, and they discover a secluded school where they might be able to finally settle down. Releases August 14th.

Noita is a old school, pixellated sidescrolling adventure game where every pixel is actually physically simulated, which means that they all react individually to what’s happening in the environment, making for some really cool effects.

You can wishlist it on Steam, but there’s no clear release date at the moment. Go to NoitaGame.com for more information.

Two Point Hospital is a simulation game where you build up your hospital, diagnose and cure patients, and train up your staff.

You’ll see hilarious illnesses that you’ll get to research cures for, such as Turtle Head (where your head shrinks so much it becomes lodged in the neck cavity), and Monobrow (which is exactly what it sounds like). Monobrow needs to be diagnosed and cured quickly, or it will fester and leave the body, spreading to others and multiplying. You can wishlist it on Steam now, and it is slated for release later in the year.

Realm Royale

RPG battle royale game, choose your class, warrior mage hunter assassin engineer. Forge weapons. And possibly special abilities like being incorporeal. This game allows you to choose a class, which will allow for different types of play styles. There are forces across the map which allow you to craft legendary gear. Once you start forging, a smoke stack makes you the center of attention, drawing all the other players to you for a big fight. Realm Royale is free on Steam right now.

Ooblets was featured last year and has some development updates this year. Farming platform inspired by Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon, and will be coming to Xbox One, and PC soon.

Ubisoft’s strategy game, Anno 1800 trailer showed a lot of cool city building and hinted at naval battles in the industrial revolution. If you go to Anno-union.com, you can join the community to help build and influence what goes into the game and how the final outcome will look.

Rapture Rejects is a top-down battle royale game in the style of Cyanide and Happiness comics. This trailer looks as funny as the comic is, starting with two roommates. One is pious, and the other seems deep into his heavy metal. The pious one says he can’t wait for the rapture so all the good people can go to heaven. Later that night, the rapture takes all the jerks from the world and leaves the believers behind.

You can sign up for the alpha at RaptureRejects.com

Hitman 2 trailer

Set in Miami, Agent 47 is back with new targets, new “weapons” (like a fish or a donut), and new disguises. New crowd mechanic where you can hide in crowds to avoid being found. Elusive targets, and limited time events will make a return, as well! Make the world your weapon November 13 2018. If you preorder, you get access to Sniper Assassin Mode.

With the next Hitman on the way, we finish up the PC Gaming Show with a great trailer and good feelings all around. Thanks for reading!
