Should You Support Dave & Busters During The Quarantine?

With the recent pandemic rules, COVID-19 shut down Dave & Busters in the first waves of businesses. All their employees out of work. Originally the workers were told they could borrow off of their Paid Time Off, but shortly after the employees were told that there would be no borrowing, no sick time, no hours.

Now the people behind Dave & Busters have sent out an email asking for the fans of the establishment to step up, and aid the employees, where they did not.

They constantly begged their employees to donate to the H.E.A.R.T. Fund, so that it would be able to help Employees in a rough time. Now when the time occurs, they are begging their customers to refill the fund. They have sent out a mailer telling customers that for every gift card they purchase during the pandemic, to be used after the shutdown raises, will have 20% deposited into the H.E.A.R.T. Fund to help their employees.

It’s fair to say that Dave & Busters is not a charity, and that direct use of their machines require staff and maintenance, so they can’t run at a loss. I can understand things being hard for them, as it is for their employees. But the donation of “20%” to a fund that has already failed their employees seems like a slap in the face.

We hope that Dave & Busters will step up and do right by their employees, so we can go back to loving their business. However, if they don’t the market place will remember. We can no longer support companies that do not support their employees. We have a long memory, and we have many options for entertainment. We do not have to visit their franchise after the pandemic, as retro arcades, and booze themed arcades were already on the rise prior to the Coronavirus.

If you want to support the employees of Dave & Busters, we recommend that you head to the Dave & Busters Employee Relief Fund Petition.
