Get Ready For Loki With His Alternative Versions

The character of Loki Laufeyson from the comic book series takes direct inspiration from the stories of lore told by the Scandinavian people over the campfires of the olden days. The Trickster God is also the God of Mischief, Evil, and Lies throughout the series.

While he is usually an enemy character, up to evil or devious plans, he also straddles the line of what is in the best interest of Asgard. Throughout the comics there have been more than one Loki, from female versions to children versions, Loki is a diverse character. So with the new series coming out today, we wanted to showcase some of those alternative creations that the series may or may not pay homage to.

Lady Loki
First Appearance – Thor Volume 3 #5 (2008)
Following the events of Ragnarok in the comics, all the gods were lost, however thanks to Thor’s return, the gods began to return, and Loki found himself … herself in the body intended for Lady Sif. This version of Loki went by the name of Lady Loki, but would return to the male form in 2009 before sacrificing himself to the Void in it’s attack on Asgard.

This is not the first, and would not be the last appearance of Lady Loki, as she reappeared in Loki: Agent of Asgard further showing Loki’s gender fluidity.
Kid Loki
First Appearance – Thor #617 (2010)
After the events of The Void’s attack on Asgard, Loki sacrifices himself to end it’s attack. His last words were an apology to Thor for his actions that lead to the attack. However, Loki knew he could die, and removed his name from the book of Hel. As a result, instead of dying, he was immediately reborn.

While he doesn’t have all the memories of Loki, he has the guilt from his actions, not to mention the ire of the denezins of Asgard who can’t see him as anything else then just the trickster and evil Loki.
Ikol
First Appearance – Journey into Mystery #622 (2011)
When kid Loki was looking for a meaning for his sacrifice he stumbles upon a secret chamber where he meets an echo of his former self. However, due to his desire to be his own person, Kid Loki transforms the echo into a Magpie to be his minion and renames him Ikol, his opposite.

Displeased with the actions of Kid Loki, Ikol set forth his plan which caused Kid Loki to sacrifice himself and allow the echo to take control of the body, so that Mephisto would not bring hell on Earth.
King Loki
First Appearance – Loki: Agent of Asgard #12 (2015)
After destroying his own world, and killing everyone on earth. King Loki travels back in time and takes over the role of Loki so that he can kill Odin to help him in his quest to defeat the only one who could stop him, Thor. However, there was one other person who could stop him, Loki.

A lot of people are theorizing that this version of Loki might be in the series.
Presidential Candidate Loki
First Appearance – Vote Loki #1 (2016)
Set during the 2016 US presidential election, Loki throws his hat in the race, claiming to be the only candidate with the guts to lie to the American people. He becomes the front runner, and causes strife and pain in the election system.

While no candidate is mentioned by name, it is alluded that he sacrifices his chances at being President at the behest of another unknown candidate.
