Save The Ocean And Find Your Stuff With Chipolo

Chipolo, one of the world’s leading item tracking companies, has done wonders for us for years by helping us find our most precious items quickly, reducing stress for not only ourselves but also our relationships. According to their blog, lost keys can cost you up to 36 kisses a day!

Unlike other trackers on the market, Chipolo offers a slim-profile, hassle-free, and water-resistant Bluetooth solution for finding lost items that include a completely free tracking app. No hidden fees or subscriptions. Just simple, accurate, and easy methods to finding lost items. Chipolo is great for people like me who set things down without even realizing we did it. By sending an alert when we walk out of range of the item, we can run back to the grocery’s freezer aisle and grab our purse before we realize it’s missing 3 days later! They also include 2-year battery life, with a replaceable battery, virtual assistant support, and a selfie button.

At CES, we often get to experience innovation in the tech world, but rarely do we see companies showcasing products that have such a direct positive impact on the world we live in. And by now, many of you lovely readers will know that this is a passion of mine.

Currently, we are in a climate crisis, with a large part of the issue being found just off our shores. How bad can it be, really? We don’t see much beyond a few cigarette butts and empty beer bottles littering the beaches, after all. We all live in our lovely little bubbles, blithely ignoring the dumpster fire that’s slowly poisoning us.

Eight million metric tons. That’s how much plastic we dump into the ocean every year. To give you some context, that’s one and a half great pyramids of Khufu. Eleven Bucharest Palaces of the Parliament. Nearly 110 Washington Monuments. In the ocean. Every year.

That’s so much trash, there are currently 5 garbage patches in the ocean. The biggest one is in the Pacific Ocean and is twice the size of Texas. But this goes much further than just having gross stuff in the ocean that’s ugly to look at. The impact on the environment gets exponentially worse every day.

The plastic gets broken down, ending up in our food chain, and when it does eventually degrade, the 400-year process releases chemicals that further contaminate the sea. There are over 400 dead zones in the ocean. In areas where the water is so completely devoid of oxygen, animals suffocate if they wander too close. One of these dead zones is roughly the size of New Jersey.

With dead zones and the decline in coral reefs around the world, we’re looking at fewer fish, which will lead to fewer jobs for the fishing industry. We’re looking at the few fish who survive becoming contaminated, leading to us getting sick from consuming them. We’re talking about rising ocean temperatures, which will cause even more deaths for marine flora/fauna as well as raise the temperature of the atmosphere on the planet, contributing to the melting ice caps among other things.

But I’m not here to lecture you on the subject. If I were, this article would be so, so much longer. I’m here to shine a light on a bright spot created by one of the great people at CES. One of the few who are making real changes to the world, by directly contributing to the solution.

After the success of their Ocean Edition tracker, they donated $10,000 to the nonprofit Oceanic Global in an effort to clean up plastic debris! The Chipolo ONE Ocean Edition was created using recovered and recycled marine plastics, nets, trowels, and ropes, and each unit sold contributed $1 to the cause!

Not only is the product itself sustainable, but the packaging is made from 100% recycled cardboard, which is plastic-free, and vegan.*

Please be sure to check them out and help make the world a healthier, more sustainable place to live.

*Vegan packaging means that it doesn’t use adhesives, etc that are derived from animal products.
